SNP under review over £1m limo bill

THE Scottish government were under fire last week over a £1million bill for limo services used by ministers. A total of £929,899 was spent last year on limos and a further £65,759 on private hire vehicles.

Labour's Lord George Foulkes commented on the limo bill and said it was an "astonishing figure".

The cost of running and maintaining a 25-car fleet, plus staff costs, increased by more than £21,000 compared with the previous year and by more than £58,000 on two years ago.

At a time when budgets are being cut in Scotland and the rest of the UK, it is hard to jusify such a rise in transport cost but I guess the ministers want to keep using a limo rather than public transport.

Giant limo up for sale on eBay

Don't let the Top Gear team bid on this item on eBay! A giant limo made of 40 different cars and various other items is up for sale for $950,000 (£642,000).

The giant limo is called the Finnjet and measures 22-foot-long, weighs 7,500-pounds and includes a stove, microwave oven, mini freezer, a satellite TV, two air conditioning units and even a sauna to show off your latest bikini to your 10 fellow passengers. This custom desined limo is based on two Mercedes-Benz station wagons welded together although you need to look carfully to notice this.

It took it owner, Antti Rahko, from Florida, more than 10 years to build this unique limo using scrap parts from 40 different vehicles but he has decided to part with it and he's selling it on the famous auction site eBay.

Despite its heavy weight, the Finnjet limo will do a very respectable 25 miles to the gallon on a tank of diesel and has the latest technology on board including sat nat and electric windows.

The owner of the limo, Mr Rahko said: "I have been driving this car to Canada every summer from Florida. It is a very reliable car."

Finnish-born Rahko, who is from Kurikka, a town of about 10,000 in western Finland, moved to the States in 1984. He delegated his business to his son and retired to the Florida sun where he spent his time playing with old cars and visiting junkyards to find every gold part for his jewel on wheels.

After enjoying the limo in the States for so many years, he hopes to find a buyer who will keep looking after this great limo and keep maintaining it.

New giant armoured limo

We already reported last week that despite the poor worldwide economy, limo business is big business.

A Canadian limo company has just released pictures of its latest limo and it's not on the small side! 20ft of sheer luxury and upmost security. The new Knight XV makes the hummer look like a toy car. The Canadian company which developped this massive new limo, Conquest Vehicles, say that demand for their specialised limousines is on the up and they are planning to sell 100 within 2 years.

You will pay a high price for it but you will be safe - if anyone is after you, they won't catch you in this massive limo : it features ballistic tested steel exterior and glass which can withstand a shot fired from a Magnum 44, the limo offers a special security feature which allows the passenger to speak to someone outside the vehicle without opening a window. For an extra charge the limo can also be fitted with oxygen survival equipment. It's not just safety which is a main feature here - obviously it has the latest entertainment system onboard, 26-inch plasma screen complete with 12 speakers, games, bar and all the must have to entertain ladies and gentlemen on board.

Only 100 of these super limos will be made and each one takes 18 weeks to complete. They will be the most luxurious armoured limo on the road....and no ganster from London to the US will mess with you.
